When IMI Bhubaneswar was established in 2011, it had a clear vision – “To be a world-class business school, achieving excellence in management education and research through continuous competency building.” It was bold, daring, ambitious, but also focused on its goals. Built around a strong foundation of its four pillars – teaching, research, training, and consulting, the B School has put its stamp on the landscape of Executive PGDM in India in just a decade. As the journey continues, the B School is set to soar to global skies as a future world leader in education.
The early days
With state of the art infrastructure, internationally qualified and industry experienced faculty team to its credit, IMI Bhubaneswar made a splash from the word go. Its first batch of AICTE recognized two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) drew attention from aspirants from around the country. It was the dawn of a new era for higher education in the region, and the State Government of Odisha was quick to recognize it – as a premier institute where it would recruit management graduates for the State Public Sector Units (SPSUs).
As the first batch of the programme was ready to graduate, IMI Bhubaneswar launched a cutting edge PGDM Program For Working Professionals In India. The first batch of AICTE approved three-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management for Working Executives (PGDM-PT) in 2013 brought together professionals from different industry streams. That year, the B School also trained International participants from 10 countries as part of the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Building global network, raising the bar for education
In a short span of time, IMI Bhubaneswar was known for its one of the Most Recommended PGDM Course In India. It had created a thriving ecosystem for students to pursue their corporate dreams, follow research pursuits, and work towards their entrepreneurial goals. It also went on to complement the campus learning experience with International interactions and initiatives to nurture global leaders. In 2014, it signed a MoU with Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, Chengdu, China for organizing an International Conference.
These conferences and MDPs would become one of the hallmarks of the stimulating, knowledge sharing experiences fostered by the B School. From the 1st International Conference on “Global Business Environment” in collaboration with EGADE Business School, Mexico in 2015 to the 6th, held in December last year, it has brought many experts on one platform to tackle industry-relevant issues. In 2018, it launched a student exchange programme with ESC Rennes International School of Business, France, which has been a roaring success.

From bagging NBA Accreditation for its flagship programme in 2016 to being rated as A++
Institute in the Chronicle B-School Survey 2017, IMI Bhubaneswar has won recognition, adding
to its growing reputation. Its rankings, including the 62nd rank in National Institutional Ranking
Framework (NIRF) 2021 conducted by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, are a testament to its
Consistent efforts that have made its graduates sought after in the industry. Its 100% placement
record and strong alumni network around the world speaks for itself.

- Granted Category 2 Graded Autonomy by AICTE last year.
- This year it ranked in Category A3 above IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Sambalpur in NIRF rankings.
- Awarded life time membership of Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA)
- The member of Confederation of Indian Industry is also accredited and recognized by USBES, adhering to the International standards of higher education and professional excellence.
- It is the associate member of EFMD and life member of AIMS (Association of Indian Management Schools).
Two years ago, IMI Bhubaneswar launched its Fellow Program in Management (FPM). Last
year, it was quick to respond to the challenges of the pandemic and ensured that students’
learning experiences, placements were not compromised. It has embraced and integrated the
latest technologies, new age specializations into its programmes to ensure that its graduates
keep their date with momentous destiny. Like it has with its own, growing in 10 years into not
just one of the Best PGDM Institute in India but a force to be reckoned with in
India.
